Online applications for Permanent Resident Visa General (PRV) are live!

Visa applications went live online via Adept on the 29th of January 2024. The first decisions were made on 30th January 2024, and by 24th February 5,832 PRV applications were received and 3,110 completed. These applications had an average decision time of five days and 90% were completed within 15 days.

It's important to wait until you’ve met all of the relevant eligibility criteria before you apply, there is no need to rush and submit your application. This includes holding a resident visa for two years before applying for a PRV.

If your resident visa was issued while you were outside New Zealand, you must wait at least two years from the first day you entered New Zealand (on that visa) before applying for a PRV.

If you submit your application before you have held your resident visa for two years, it will likely be declined, or you will be offered a variation to your resident visa travel conditions instead. You will then need to reapply for a PRV once you’ve met all the eligibility criteria, and also pay another application fee.

Active Investor Plus Visa - AI+ 2.0 The New Zealand Government announced changes to NZ’s Active Investor Plus Category on 9.2.25. This signals to the international investment market that NZ is open for business. These changes from 1st April 2025 will ensure those who engage with investors will extract potentially greater investment on a far greater scale than is currently being achieved. This will finally deliver the economic benefits that the policy was designed to create. Over the past two years, we have seen a significant number of potential investors discouraged by the investor visa route into New Zealand. These changes to the AI+ settings are a refinement that removes any unnecessary complexity and rewards high-wealth individuals who wish to invest in NZ. The current settings have been unable to achieve the projected interest, and as such, increased interest and investment into NZ is highly likely.
